Optimization continues to create new challenges, both with respect to modeling and algorithms. The successful conferences at Princeton University in 2016 and Rice University in 2014 highlighted the challenges that we will continue to explore at this conference.

The theme of "mountains of optimization" is designed to emphasize, in our mountain setting, the myriad of topics, both theoretical and applied, that confront optimizers today.
